In the Media: Mr. Junaid Qureshi (EFSAS) speaking to BTVI on issues pertaining to New Delhi's policy on J&K

Mr. Junaid Qureshi (Director EFSAS) argued that development is a crucial element to combating terrorism, through helping youngsters desist from the path of radicalization by providing them with alternative avenues for social growth. He stated that the people from the Kashmir Valley have become fatigued from this ongoing violence and unceasing hartals. Mr. Qureshi concluded by saying that the common Kashmiris are the ones who suffer from violence and anti-terrorism operations and find themselves in a vicious circle of conflict. He agreed that having a hard approach is essential, yet it should be directed to the culprits and those elements which foment violence, and not targeted at everyone indiscriminately. There should be a clear distinction in approach towards common people of Jammu & Kashmir and those who use violence as modus operandi. The common civilians need confidence building measures and a soft, long-term and humane approach based on principles of democracy and rule of law.
