UNHRC Side-event by EFSAS on "Human Rights in South Asia" - 21 March 2023

 

During the 52nd Session of the UNHRC, the European Foundation for South Asian Studies (EFSAS) in collaboration with its Partner organization, The Organization for Poverty Alleviation and Development (OPAD), will be organizing a Side-event on the Human Rights situation in South Asia on 21 March 2023 at 11:00 (CET) in Room XXII at The Palais des Nations in Geneva. 

The title of the Side-event is: 'Human Rights situation in South Asia'. A group of international experts will present their views and deliberate upon this topic and discuss the effects of infrastructural projects on human rights and climate change in the region.  

The session will be moderated by Mr. Junaid Qureshi - Director EFSAS. 

 

The Speakers will include: 

  • Myra MacDonald - Former journalist and Reuters Bureau Chief for India I Author of books on contemporary South Asian security.
  • Malaiz Daud - political analyst, formerly Chief of Staff of Afghanistan’s former President (Mr. Ashraf Ghani), Research Fellow at Barcelona Centre for International Affairs and Research Fellow at EFSAS
  • Tim Foxley - Independent Researcher, EFSAS Research Fellow I formerly British Ministry of Defence, Swedish Ministry of Defence, SIPRI and RUSI.
