The event was followed by a very informative Q&A session, during which the audience and speakers exchanged opinions on various topics, including the dire humanitarian situation in Afghanistan, the conditions that should be placed on emergency aid, funding of the Taliban and the extent to which narcotics might prove as a possible source of funding, possible interaction between the Taliban and China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), whether the West should push back against the narrative established by Pakistan in the recent weeks that the Taliban government should be accepted and the role that India should play as a regional player.
