Meetings

EFSAS holds meetings with Think Tanks, MPs and scholars in London and Oxford

October 2017 

EFSAS called upon Mr. Peter Tatchell – Director of the Peter Tatchell Foundation, Dr. Gareth Price - Senior Research Fellow, Asia Programme of Chatham House, Virendra Sharma - MP for London Ealing and Professor Matthew McCartney - Director of South Asian Studies at Oxford University. Issues concerning South Asia, growing radicalization, China-Pakistan strategic partnership and ‘One Belt One Road' (OBOR) initiative of China with regard to Gilgit Baltistan and the wider Jammu & Kashmir State, were discussed during the meetings.

The delegation of EFSAS, comprising of Mr. Dušan Vejinović, Ms. Yoana Barakova, Ms. Josephine Derks and Mr. Junaid Qureshi appraised the Scholars, Academicians and the Member of Parliament about EFSAS’ activities and the research it conducts in order to find alternative narratives to long standing conflicts in the region of South Asia. Terrorism, being one of the main challenges and the biggest threat to peace in the region, was discussed elaborately and it was proposed that there rests a responsibility on the large South Asian diaspora to counter terrorism and radicalization at the ideological level. Opportunities of working together were also explored.
