Meetings with Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Brussels

A delegation of EFSAS consisting of Ms. Yoana Barakova (Research Analyst), Mr. Dusan Vejinovic (Senior Research Analyst) and Mr. Junaid Qureshi (Director) held a meeting with representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of the Kingdom of Belgium. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs was represented by Mr. Peter Lescouhier (Head of the Asia Division), Mr. Roel Markey (Attaché) and Mr. Peter D’Huys (Secretary Embassy). The volatile political situation in South Asia, the state of Human Rights including violations thereof, expansionist designs of China as part of the construction of the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and the challenges the region faces because of 'increasing' terrorism were among the topics which were discussed. EFSAS offered its expert services of conducting research and providing advice to the Ministry vis-à-vis the above mentioned when the Ministry or the Foreign Minister require the same.

EFSAS also held deliberations with Mr. Fernando Burgés (Program Manager of Unrepresented Nationals & Peoples Organization – UNPO) in Brussels and Mr. Alastair Reed (Director of International Centre for Counter-Terrorism – ICCT) in the Hague. South Asia and Jammu & Kashmir were important topics during the discussions and an exchange of views on recent developments related to terrorism and politics in regional and global context took place. Opportunities for future collaboration on research and organizing seminars and conferences with EFSAS, were also explored.
